THE OPEN STUDIO

Our premises in Neukölln are a place for learning, trying things out, and experimenting. It's also our production site, where all frames are built and pictures are framed. It's open to anyone who would like to either frame a picture themselves under expert guidance in our studio or learn the basics of picture frame making in a guided workshop in our woodworking shop. basics of framing

In this DIY course, you'll learn the basics of framing in a group of no more than six people. After a brief introduction to the history and development of picture frames, you'll get straight to work. Step by step, the individual elements will be assembled by hand to create a custom-made piece.

At Open Studio Neukölln

You have access to our wood workshop and can choose all the materials, such as the frame, cardboard, and glass, to match your picture: whether upcycled frames or new solid wood frames made from different types of wood.

Under expert guidance

In monthly Saturday courses, you will create your own custom piece of artwork (paper work) that you bring along. You can find the current dates and further information here:

Framing pictures

For those who would like to frame their pictures quickly and easily and who also enjoy doing the work themselves, we offer the option of reserving workstations by the hour.

At Open Studio Neukölln

After a brief consultation on your framing project, we'll provide you with the individual materials, allowing you to assemble the components yourself to create your custom-made piece. In our framing studio, manuals on the wall explain the individual steps. Our team is always available to answer any questions or assist you with any difficulties.

After you register, we will calculate the cost of your framing based on your requirements. Prices start at approximately €40 for standard frames, €55 for solid wood, and €65 for upcycled frames. We also offer various types of glass, as well as backing boards and mounts. Please note that your artwork will be on paper and should be a maximum of 80 x 80 cm. For custom sizes or any other questions, please contact us in advance by email. You can book your workspace directly here.
