Frequently Asked Questions

PICTURE FRAME

Can I reorder a frame that I like?

We give the material and wood a second life, i.e. all upcycling frames are unique, i.e. we can usually make the frame again in the same color and / or a different size. However, due to the origin of the wood, the frame will never be an exact copy. The frame shown in the photo can only represent one possible direction of how the wood and the patina look.

Can I send a frame as a gift??

Of course, you can send any frame to any address of your choice. If you want to add a personal greeting, please indicate this in the shopping cart.

What is the picture size and the frame size?

The picture size refers to the back, inner size of the picture frame (i.e. the size of the sheet that fits into the frame), which is also called the fold size. The frame size is the outer size of the picture frame.

Where are the frames made?

All of our frames are hand-made in Berlin and shipped from here. The wood comes either from Berlin, Brandenburg and the surrounding area, or we buy old fishing boats in Bali from a family friend and use it to build new picture frames.

CURATED BY FRAMEWORKS

Can I buy several of the same product in your shop??

Our collection is very selected and specially put together by us, i.e. most of the pieces are unique. With some it is also possible to produce another one for you. Please contact us directly if you have any questions: framei@frameworksberlin.com

I am looking for a special picture for my home and do not yet know exactly what I want, you can support me?

We would be happy to work with you to develop an idea for your new work of art: from advice at home, contact with suitable artists and the optimal framing, we can of course support you: we call the Creative Wall Concept, just contact us directly.

How is the framed art selected?

The entire Frameworks team is behind the selection, but especially Claire and Barbara. We value a diverse selection of artists and particularly like to buy from young, exciting and local artists who we know personally.

SHIPPING

How do I know that my order has been recorded?

After your order and payment, you will receive an order confirmation to the email address you specified when you placed your order. If you have not received an email, check your spam folder or contact us.

When can I expect my delivery??

We work according to the principle of the pre-order system to avoid overproduction, i.e. when you order a removable frame, it will usually be sent to you within the next 2-3 working days.

If it is a made-to-measure production, the production deadline changes and is approx. 1 week. Depending on the shipping times from our suppliers, it can take up to 2 weeks to receive your frame.

During the months of November / December there may be longer production times. Please take this into account when placing your order or contact us in advance if you have an important deadline. We try our best to meet your desired delivery date or let you know in good time if that is not possible.

How is my picture frame shipped?

We pack the frames securely and, if possible, with recycled packaging material made of cushioning material and sturdy cardboard and then usually hand them over to DHL go green.

How can I track my delivery?

As soon as the package has been handed over to the logistics company, you will receive a shipping confirmation from us with a tracking number, provided you have chosen insured shipping.

Can I pick up my order in person??

We have a shop in Berlin Kreuzberg, Reichenberger Straße 28, 10999 Berlin. You are welcome to come by there during our regular opening hours.

Do I have to pay for shipping?

For orders over 150, we will cover the shipping costs. For orders below this value, you are welcome to pick up your goods in our shop in Berlin. For shipping in Germany, we charge the usual shipping costs depending on size and weight. We offer express delivery on request and at an additional cost..

Which countries do you deliver to?

We ship in Germany, Europe and worldwide. Our picture frames are always packed very carefully and professionally and we do our best to ensure that the frames arrive safely with you. Unfortunately, no parcel service provider in Germany and Europe will take over insurance for broken glass.

We have alternative freight forwarders and special art logistics companies who bring the valuable picture frames and framed art to you in a safe and, above all, insured way, if it is worth it to you. For this we have to make a concrete offer and just ask you to contact us directly.

RETURN, EXCHANGE AND REFUND

What if my frame got broken?

If your frame is broken after receipt, has defects or errors that can clearly be attributed to our fault, please let us know immediately after receiving the delivery by email (frameit@frameworksberlin.com), send us photos of them and the undamaged ones Packaging and we will take care of a correction or refund.

I have a right of return if I don't like the frame?

If you don't like your picture frame after all, that's a shame. If you want to return the frame, you have 14 days to send the goods back to us.  You are responsible for the return costs and we will refund you the full purchase price as soon as the goods have arrived undamaged.

EXPERT: INTERNAL TIPS

How do I handle my picture frame correctly?

Please always grasp the picture frame with two hands on opposite sides of the frame, do not pull on one side of the frame

How do I hang my picture frame correctly??

For the suspension, please always use the hangers that you received. The frame is best hung on your wall with a nail or screw (depending on size and weight). If possible, keep your artwork away from direct sunlight (unless UV glass was used) and excessive moisture, the kitchen and bathroom are only suitable rooms under certain conditions.

How do I clean my picture frame?

Dust your frames regularly so that dirt doesn't build up over time. To clean the glass, remove the frame from the wall and place it on a flat surface. Spray glass cleaner on a lint-free cloth and NOT directly on the glass to prevent the liquid from seeping behind the glass. Dry with a lint-free cloth. Glass should not be cleaned with water or other cleaning agents. If you have anti-reflective UV glass in your picture frame, you should only use pure alcohol or denatured alcohol for cleaning.

How do I take the dimensions of my picture what I want to frame?

Measure the width and height of your artwork in mm. We add the additional dimensions or calculate the size of the window opening for a passe-partout. If your artwork already has a white border, you need to decide whether you want to see that border or not. If you want it to be visible, measure the full size of the paper it is on. If you want a mat that will hide the edge, measure the size of the artwork without the edge.
Please note that for all flat-framed works of art (edge to edge) the frame must overlap the work of art by approx. 5 mm (fold). This will hold the artwork in place. With a passepartout, please note that the passepartout overlaps the work of art by approx. 4 mm on each side.
